Ghosting had its world premiere at London's FrightFest on Monday August 31st, as part of their short film showcase. There was a great response from the audience, and it felt good to see people reacting to it for the first time - as I said in the long, rambling intro, I've been staring at it for so long, I have no idea if it's scary or funny or anything at all. Luckily, everyone jumped, gasped, and laughed in the right places, and there was even a big laugh in a totally unexpected place, in a good way - you never know what bits people will like, it's always a surprise. And something that feels fine when watching it alone can play totally differently with an audience, there's a strange alchemy at work.
It was also nice to play at FrightFest again (all of my movie work has premiered there so far), but this time at the Prince Charles Cinema, where the festival originally used to live. I got into the film industry just as the festival moved out of the PCC, so I never got to see my work projected there, and it was lovely to be back there for FrightFest, a real honour. I love the PCC, and it felt right to play the short films there.
Next festival is the Telluride Horror Show, which played Crazy For You back in 2013, they're a great festival and I'm very pleased they're getting the US premiere. Several more festivals to submit to over the coming year, so keep an eye out for local ones, and hopefully I'll get to scare your socks off sometime soon...
